Pinwheels for Prevention

Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Intervention and Prevention

Pinwheels for Prevention
More than a reminder— it’s a movement

In 2008, Prevent Child Abuse America® launched the Pinwheels for Prevention® campaign as a grassroots effort for individuals and organizations across the U.S. to take action. The campaign promotes healthy child development while raising awareness to prevent child abuse and neglect—before it ever happens. The pinwheels represent the joyful, happy, healthy childhoods every child has a right to. Thrive Virginia will have pinwheels displayed at the following locations:

  • C&F Bank in New Kent
  • Charles City Department of Social Services
  • Charles City Elementary School
  • Thrive Virginia office building in New Kent
  • Tiny Little Children Daycare Center in Charles City

Cultivating and Investing in Great Childhoods

National Child Abuse Prevention Month, observed annually in April, helps spread the message that everyone can help prevent child abuse by investing in and cultivating great childhoods.

In 2021, Thrive Virginia is helping to provide great childhoods by sponsoring a book drive for children ages 1-10 years of age. Books collected will go to families involved in local community programs.  You may drop off books at sites listed below or you may order from a prepared book list on Amazon at Check out my list on Amazon
