Message From Our Director

Welcome to Thrive Virginia Community Action Agency

Do you ever ask yourself, “Am I making a difference in the world?  Does my life really matter?” Luckily, I can say yes to this question on a daily basis because I know Thrive Virginia is changing lives.

At Thrive Virginia, we build partnerships in order to create self-sufficiency for families within our communities.  Now, more than ever, finding creative solutions to reducing the long-term, devastating effects of poverty will shape the future of our nation.

According to the American Psychological Association (, low income children and teens are at greater risk for myriad negative outcomes such as poor academic achievement, school dropout, abuse and neglect, behavioral and socioemotional problems, physical health problems, and developmental delays.

The programs at Thrive Virginia, including Project Discovery, Project Hope, Healthy Families, and homelessness prevention, not only address the root causes of poverty, but also work to alleviate its devastating effect on our communities.

Please partner with us as we strive to make our service area a more equitable and just community.  In the words of FDR, “The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”
