Housing and Financial Counseling
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Approved Agency - Thrive Virginia's program is approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Each service is designed to assist our customers in achieving financial stability.
We offer:
- One-on-one counseling (In-Person or Virtually)
- Group workshops (In-Person at various scheduled locations throughout our service area)

As a HUD-approved counseling agency, our Certified Counselor will work with you to:
- Improve your understanding of financial concepts to take action and improve your financial well-being.
- Eliminate debt to promote long-term financial freedom.
- Develop real-life financial skills that empower you to become a financially responsible wealth-builder, homeowner, investor, and productive workforce member.
- Use the Needs Versus Wants method to help you identify and avoid predatory lending and financial scams, build a positive credit score, and establish and maintain your financial well-being.
- Educate first-time homebuyers on the homeownership process.
FDIC Money Smart Alliance - Thrive Virginia's program is a member of the FDIC Money Smart Alliance and uses the Money Smart for Adults curriculum to learn about:
- Understanding the decisions you make about money
- Managing your income
- Creating and implementing a savings and spending plan
- Using credit and borrowing money
We offer:
