Feeding Program

Overview

Thrive Virginia offers a non-perishable food pantry at the agency’s K&Q Family C.A.R.E. Center. This pantry is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and offers shelf-stable food for families in need. The C.A.R.E. Center also offers Health Navigation, including nutrition education, SNAP application management and assistance, and cooking on a budget. We encourage community members to check the C.A.R.E. Center’s calendar of events for ongoing workshops and food security education.

In partnership with FeedMore, Thrive Virginia offers quarterly drive-thru food distributions, which offer perishable foods such as fresh produce, meat, and dairy products.

Please see the distribution schedule below for upcoming drive-thru distributions.

  • November 22nd
  • December 12th

Meals for Children

Many students in King William and King and Queen experience food insecurity. However, when these students are on extended breaks from school, they may not have access to affordable, healthy meals.

To address this problem, the program provides kid-friendly meals to children during all extended school breaks including Thanksgiving, Winter, Spring, and Summer. During these breaks, families receive meal bags which include breakfast, snack, drink, and lunch items for each child. Meals are distributed on the Saturday prior to each school break and on a weekly basis throughout Summer Break.

While the program is supported by several generous donors, including the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, Kroger Co. Foundation, Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, and West Rock, the success of the program is also driven by the support of community members through donated food and volunteer service.
